February 16, 2023February 16, 2023YellowStorm starts its HBLPSL 8 campaign with a historic win over Karachi – Match Report – PZ vs KKZalmi Times : Volume 1 : Valentines Day SpecialPeshawar Zalmi kicked off its PSL 8 campaign with a 2-run victory over Kings in a nail biting contest. The match was played at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi where Karachi Kings Skipper Imad Wasim won the toss and elected to bowl first. Peshawar Zalmi openers Muhammad Haris and Babar Azam looked in great touch however, Muhammad Haris got out early in the second over followed by the unlucky dismissal of the talented youngster Saim Ayub. Zalmi’s innings was then constructed by the massive partnership of Tom Kohler Cadmore and Babar Azam who showed their class and experience with the bat. Skipper Babar Azam scored 68 runs off 46 balls but it was Tom Kohler Cadmore who stole the show playing a destructive innings of 92 runs where he smashed every Karachi Kings bowler especially taking Karachi captain Imad Wasim to the cleaners when he hit 3 consecutive sixes in Imad’s over. After Babar Azam and TKC got out, Karachi Kings were able to stop Zalmi’s onslaught but the damage had been done already as Peshawar Zalmi set up a target of 200 runs for Karachi. Karachi Kings sent Mathew Wade and Sharjeel Khan to open their innings. Zalmi Star Bowler Wahab Riaz dismissed Sharjeel in the very first over while Jimmy Neesham struck twice in the powerplay to hamper the Kings progress. After losing 4 quick early wickets, Kings came back in the game courtesy of a huge partnership between Shoaib Malik and Imad Wasim who fought hard to keep up with the required run rate. Wahab Riaz got the important wicket of Shoaib Malik in the 19th over to bring bolster Zalmi’s chances of winnig as the match went to the wire. Zalmi Pacer Khurram Shehzad kept his cool in the final over of the game while bowling against Imad Wasim who was timing the ball perfectly batting in front of home crowd. Peshawar Zalmi won the game by 2 runs as they restricted the kings to 197/5 after 20 overs. For Peshawar Zalmi, Tom Kohler Cadmore was the top-scorer with 92 runs, while James Neesham and Wahab Riaz picked up 2 wickets each.For his outstanding knock of 92 runs, Tom Kohler Cadmore was nominated as the man of the match.
